Qigong 2 Founded on Daoist spiritual philosophies, Qigong (气功) is a traditional Chinese practice for nourishing health. It works the body and mind in a way that is suitable for everyone. This type of exercise works naturally with the body to strengthen it and improve the functions of the heart and mind. Of the two words that compose Qigong, “Qi” (气) is the natural energy that gives us life and “Gong” (功) is the practice of developing a skill through dedication and proper technique. Practicing qigong helps us unify, adjust, and integrate the mind with the body to promote health and prevent disease throughout a lifetime. This Qigong includes both a standing routine as well as a sitting routine which is suitable to practice in the office. Developed by Master Zhou Xuan Yun, these routines draw upon traditional Daoist Qigong practices to create a comprehensive program that addresses several health issues common to modern living. With consistent practice, these routines help to make the body stronger, more flexible, and boosts the immune system.
